## The Two Windows: Quick Popup and Main Window

### Quick Popup (Small Floating Window)
- Open from **anywhere** on Mac or Windows using the **⌃⌥V** or **⌃⌥Space** keyboard shortcut
- A compact window appears near your mouse cursor — wherever your cursor is on screen
- Shows your clipboard history and pinned items
- Click any item and it pastes instantly into whatever you were typing — no window switching needed
- This is the most-used feature: copy something once, open popup later, paste it anywhere
- Close by pressing Escape or clicking outside the popup

### Main Window (Full App)
- Open from the menu bar icon (top-right of Mac/Windows screen)

Nearby Transfer lets you share files with any nearby device without needing the same Google account.

**How it works:**
1. Both users must have Copyboard installed on any device (Mac, Windows, or Android)
2. Both devices must be on the same local Wi-Fi network
3. One user enables Nearby mode and sets a 10-digit PIN in Copyboard
4. The other user enters the same 10-digit PIN in their Copyboard app
5. After connecting, both can share files in both directions over local Wi-Fi
6. No internet used. No accounts shared. Connection lasts 24 hours.
7. Up to 2 nearby friends can be connected at the same time

**Use case:** You want to send a large video to a friend who is nearby. Both open Copyboard, enter the same PIN, and the file transfers instantly over Wi-Fi.

## Keyboard Shortcuts — Complete Reference

All shortcuts work from anywhere on Mac — you do not need to switch windows, click anything, or have the Copyboard window open. Every shortcut can be individually turned ON or OFF in Settings.

### Quick Popup Shortcuts (open the floating clipboard picker)

Both shortcuts do the same thing — open the small floating popup wherever your cursor is. You can enable or disable each one separately in Settings. Most users keep both enabled so either hand can trigger it.

### Open at Login

Copyboard can start automatically when the Mac boots. Enable in: System Settings → General → Login Items → add Copyboard. Once enabled, the app is always running in the background from startup — clipboard history starts saving immediately from boot.

### App-level Blocking (Privacy)

In the main window, you can block specific apps from having their clipboard content tracked. Examples:
- Block your password manager (1Password, Bitwarden) — passwords will never appear in history
- Block your banking app — account numbers stay private
- Block any app by name
